It inhibits the synthesis of collagen and other proteins, which may be due to its inhibitory effect on synthetase. 2MPAA has been shown to inhibit phosphatases, such as dextran sulfate and p-nitrophenyl phosphate. 2MPAA also inhibits the replication of DNA by binding to the enzyme DNA polymerase, inhibiting dna replication.
