2-Chloroheptane
CAS:2-Chloroheptane is a colorless liquid that has a molecular weight of 128.2 g/mol and a boiling point of -4 °C. 2-Chloroheptane is soluble in water and reacts with nucleophiles such as chlorine (Cl) to form chlorinated products. It can also be used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, which are used in the manufacture of plastics, solvents, pharmaceuticals, herbicides, and insecticides. 2-Chloroheptane crystallizes as a white solid when cooled below -35 °C and has an imine structure. The molecule is symmetrical because it contains two identical groups on either side of a double bond (-CH=CH-).
