  • (Z)-Docos-11-enoic acid

    CAS:
Docos-11-enoic acid is a polybasic compound that can be obtained by hydrogenation of zirconium oxide. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of herpes simplex virus, which may be due to its ability to inhibit particle release and block the binding of particles to cells. Docos-11-enoic acid also inhibits fatty acid synthesis in adipose tissue and is used as a pharmacological agent in the treatment of obesity. Docos-11-enoic acid has been shown to decrease postprandial plasma triglycerides, increase postprandial plasma glucose levels, and increase insulin secretion in cell cultures. These effects are most likely due to docos-11-enoic acid's ability to inhibit the activity of phospholipase A2 and protein kinase C, which are involved in lipid metabolism and glucose transport.
