(R)-(+)-Mandelonitrile
CAS:Mandelonitrile is a phenylpropene with the chemical formula C7H6O2. It has an acidic ph and is soluble in water. Mandelonitrile is also a component of amygdalus, which is used in the production of almond oil. Mandelonitrile can be synthesized by reacting sodium citrate with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and dry mandelic acid in a flow system. This process produces mandelonitrile as an intermediate, which can then be converted to (+)-mandelic acid by hydrogenation with Raney nickel catalyst. The kinetic and thermodynamic properties of this reaction have been studied using a model system that consists of an asymmetric synthesis.Formula:C8H7NOPurity:Min. 90%Molecular weight:133.15 g/mold-mandelonitrile
