CAS:4-Thiobutyrolactone is a primary amino acid with the chemical formula CH3CH2CO2H. It is an organic solvent that is used in manufacturing and as a solvent. 4-Thiobutyrolactone has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against collagenase, which may be due to its ability to form a covalent bond with the active methylene group of the enzyme.
