CAS:Sodium bisulfate monohydrate is an inorganic acid that has been used as a chemical reagent, a catalyst, and a component of glass. It can be synthesized by combining hydrochloric acid and sodium carbonate. Sodium bisulfate monohydrate is also used to make P-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is a precursor to pharmaceuticals. The synthesis of this compound requires the reaction of anhydrous sodium with phosphotungstic acid and hydrochloric acid. This reaction produces dibutyl sulfate and phosphotungstic acid, which can then react with p-hydroxybenzoic acid to produce sodium bisulfate monohydrate. Sodium bisulfate monohydrate's hydroxyl group makes it acidic. It is also used as a solid catalyst for the production of dimethyl fumarate from fumaric acid and malonic acid in the presence of hydrogen gas.Formula:HNaO4S·H2OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:138.08 g/molSulfuric acid, sodium salt, hydrate (1:1:1)
