    4-Amino-2-[4,6-Diamino-3-[3-Amino-6-(Aminomethyl)-4-Fluoro-5-Hydroxyoxan-2-Yl]Oxy]-2-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxane-3,5 -Diol is a novel antibiotic. The compound is synthesized by the addition of a fluoro group to the amino group of kanamycin. This modification leads to an increase in stability, which makes the compound more resistant to bacterial enzymes. 4AAOD has shown antibacterial activity against Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus with MICs of 1 µg/mL or less. The mechanism of action is not yet clear but may be due to reversible binding to membrane proteins or quorum sensing inhibitors.
