Troponin activator is a drug used to treat muscle diseases. It is a protein that has been shown to activate the troponin complex, which regulates the contraction of skeletal and cardiac muscle. Troponin activator has been shown to be effective in treating chronic kidney disease and wheat germ agglutinin-induced muscle injury in humans. It blocks the activity of creatine kinase, which is an enzyme responsible for regulating muscle force. In mice, troponin activator was shown to increase skeletal muscle force by activating the troponin complex in wild-type mice but not in mice with mutations in the troponin T gene.
