Beta-N,N-dimethylamino-L-Ala is a plant hormone that belongs to the group of analogs. It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of L-lysine by bacteria and can be used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Beta-N,N-dimethylamino-L-Ala has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in mutants of subtilis and resistant mutants of typhimurium. This agent also inhibits the growth of P. aeruginosa in a mutant strain.
