S516 is a potent anticancer agent that inhibits homologous recombination repair. It has been shown to have anti-tumor activity in vivo and in vitro. S516 has also been found to inhibit tumor vasculature, which may be due to its ability to induce the polymerization of DNA or its methylation by arginine. S516 is a polycyclic compound with a carbonyl group at position 516, which can form covalent bonds with the reactive groups on DNA during polymerization. The inhibition of homologous recombination repair leads to the accumulation of unrepaired double-stranded DNA breaks, leading to cell death.
