  • 2,4,6-Trimethoxyboroxin

    2,4,6-Trimethoxyboroxin is an epoxy that contains a trimethyl group on the 2 position. It has a basic structure with high reactivity and cross-linking capabilities. The reactivity of this compound is increased by the presence of Lewis acids such as phosphorus pentachloride. This compound can be used as a sealant because it reacts with cationic polymerization to form polymers that are insoluble in water and resistant to microbial attack. The synthesis of 2,4,6-trimethoxyboroxin requires a two-step process: first, boron nitride (BN) is activated by exposure to phosphorus pentachloride (PCl5), followed by reaction with methyltrioxoacetonitrile (MTAN). This synthesis produces the epoxy in high yield and purity. 2,4,6-Trimethoxyboroxin has been shown to have anticancer activity against carcinoma
