2-(4-(2-(4-(2,2-Dimethylbutyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl)ethyl)phenyl)pyridine (BDPP) is a potential chemotherapeutic agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to DNA polymerase and blocking the synthesis of RNA. BDPP has also been shown to induce apoptosis in tumor cells by inhibiting pro-apoptotic protein activity and enhancing anti-apoptotic protein activity. Transfection experiments have demonstrated that BDPP induces cell death in human breast cancer tissues. Zirconium oxide nanoparticles coated with BDPP have been shown to be significantly cytotoxic against cancer cells in vitro. BDPP also has an affinity for IL-2 receptor, which may contribute to its cytotoxicity.
