PF-4191834 is a fatty acid derivative that inhibits the redox cycle of reactive oxygen species. PF-4191834 is also active against inflammatory diseases, such as arthritis and colitis, without affecting the production of prostaglandins. The mechanism of action is not yet known, but it may be due to inhibition of lipid peroxide formation or an increase in lipid peroxide detoxification enzymes.
