Racemic 1-Oleoyl-3-chloropropanediol is an intermediate in the synthesis of clopidogrel and can be recovered from the reaction mixture by liquid chromatography with ion monitoring. The product can also be obtained by extracting it from methyl oleate or ethyl oleate.
