CAS:(R)-tert-Butyl 3-aminoazepane-1-carboxylate is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C6H11NO2. It has a molecular weight of 141.17 and it is composed of two subunits, one containing a tert-butyl group and the other containing an amino group. The (R) form is obtained by reacting the acid hydrochloride with acetonitrile in the presence of elemental sulfuric acid. Besifloxacin, which is also a regioisomer of this compound, has been found to be effective against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species. Elemental analysis data for besifloxacin shows that it contains an n-substituted side chain, which may be due to its similarity to (R)-tert-butyl 3-aminoazepane-1-carboxylate.
