Applications (1R)-1-Phenyl-1,3-propanediol is used in the synthesis and characterization of cytochrome P450 3A-activated prodrugs which are useful for targeting phosph(on)ate-based drugs to liver. (R)-(+)-1-Phenyl-1,3-propanediol is an inexpensively synthesized hydroxy compound that is used in the synthesis of medicines. It has been shown to be enantiopure and unsymmetrical, allowing for a number of different reactions to occur with this molecule. (R)-(+)-1-Phenyl-1,3-propanediol may be used as a reuptake inhibitor of serotonin. This molecule also has functional groups that allow it to be used in biological studies.
