    (S)-(-)-Felodipine is a calcium antagonist that blocks the effects of calcium on blood vessels and heart muscle. It is used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and other cardiovascular diseases. The long-term efficacy of this drug can be improved by immobilizing it onto cellulose acetate. This drug has been shown to inhibit lipase activity in the liver and intestine, which may lead to an increase in cholesterol levels and increased risk of developing atherosclerosis. (S)-(-)-Felodipine has haemodynamic effects on the liver, kidney, and heart, as well as organ damage in cirrhotic patients.
