    5-Fluoro-2-picolinic acid (5FPA) is a picolinic acid derivative that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. 5FPA binds to the chloride ion, which disrupts the proton gradient across the bacterial cell membrane and inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria.
