CAS:Controlled ProductNor benzphetamine hydrochloride (NBP) is a synthetic drug that has inhibitory properties. It exists as the free base and its hydrochloride salt. NBP is an organic compound which binds to the cytochrome P450 isozymes, especially CYP2D6 and CYP3A4, and inhibits their activity. This inhibition of these isozymes leads to a decrease in the metabolism of other drugs by these enzymes. The binding constants for acidic NBP with rat liver microsomes were found to be 2.1 ± 0.7 μM at pH 7.5, and 2.8 ± 1.1 μM at pH 5.5 in rats with intact livers, while it was 3-fold higher in rats with hepatic microsomal enzyme depletion following piperonyl butoxide pretreatment (10 mg/kg). NBP also has an inhibitory effect on cell proliferation and protein synthesis in animal cells, which may be dueFormula:C16H20ClNPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:261.79 g/mol
