CAS:23-Hydroxybudesonide is a synthetic, inactive metabolite of budesonide. It is formed by the liver cells and has been found to be a potent inhibitor of human eosinophilic leukemia cell growth in culture. 23-Hydoxybudesonide also inhibits the proliferation of colonic epithelial cells in vitro. 23-Hydroxybudesonide has minimal activity when given orally, but it can be administered nasally without any significant side effects.
