It is a natural metabolite and impurity in synthetic drugs such as fluoroquinolones and corticosteroids. Fluorometholone delta 9,11 has been shown to be a substrate for CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein. This drug has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and may decrease the risk of infection by suppressing neutrophil function.
