N-Methyl-4-aminobutyric Acid
CAS:Controlled ProductStability Hygroscopic Applications A GABA derivative and hydrolysis product of the industrial solvent, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone. Biologically it is a product of nicotine catabolism in bacteria and inhibits L-Carnitine from undergoing β-oxidation in mammals. It is commonly found in skin products to prevent wrinkles. Not a dangerous good if item is equal to or less than 1g/ml and there is less than 100g/ml in the package References Wells, D., et al.: J. CAS:N-Methyl-4-aminobutyric acid is a neurotransmitter that is synthesized from glutamic acid. It has inhibitory effects on the central nervous system and is used to treat seizures, muscle spasms, and other neurological disorders. N-Methyl-4-aminobutyric acid is also produced during the hydrolysis of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) by hydrochloric acid. The reaction products of these reactions are assayed using an assay based on monoclonal antibodies. N-Methyl-4-aminobutyric acid also inhibits the uptake of GABA in the brain, which may be due to its ability to act as a competitive inhibitor with respect to GABA transporter proteins. N-Methyl-4-aminobutyric acid inhibits the uptake of gaba in the brain, which may be due to its ability to act as a competitive inhibitor with respect to gaba transporter proteins.Formula:C5H11NO2Purity:(¹H-Nmr) Min. 95 Area-%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:117.15 g/mol4-(Methylamino)butanoic acid
