1,4-Dicyano-2-butene
CAS:1,4-Dicyano-2-butene is a kinetic data that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of vitamin D3. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor and low boiling point. 1,4-Dicyano-2-butene reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce hydroxy group. This intermediate can be further reacted with acrylonitrile to yield 1,4-dichloro-2-butene, which can then react with chloride or potassium dichromate to form ruthenium complex. The ruthenium complex reacts with hydroxy group or chloride to produce a molecule that has an absorption band at nmr spectra. This absorption band corresponds to the wavelength of light that is absorbed by this molecule and transferred through optical properties. The transfer mechanism for this reaction is not well understood but it may involve low energy transfer between molecules.
