N2-(Dimethylaminomethylidene)-7-deaza-2'-deoxyguanosine is a modified nucleoside that is an activator of DNA, deoxyribonucleosides, and nucleotides. It has been shown to be active against herpesviruses, HIV-1, and cancer cells in vitro. N2-(Dimethylaminomethylidene)-7-deaza-2'-deoxyguanosine has also been shown to have antiviral activity against influenza A virus. This compound belongs to the class of novel anticancer agents that inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by interfering with DNA synthesis and RNA synthesis.
