CAS:3-Hydroxy-4-methylpyridine is a furopyridine that is formed from toluene and furan. It has been found to be a product of the Birch reduction, which is a reaction involving the oxidation of organic compounds by dioxygen in the presence of an iron catalyst. 3-Hydroxy-4-methylpyridine can also be biotransformed into other products in vivo through escherichia coli mutants, which are bacteria with a genetic defect. This mutation leads to an inability to metabolize threonine, leading to accumulation of this amino acid and its subsequent conversion into 3-hydroxy-4-methylpyridine. There have been studies on the evolution of these mutant bacteria, as well as screening for new enzymes that are able to hydrolyze threonine and convert it into 3-hydroxy-4-methylpyridine.Formula:C6H7NOPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:109.13 g/molRef: 3D-FH33884
