The coordination geometry of the benzimidazole ring system is octahedral with two chlorides, one proton, and two water molecules. 2-Pyridin-3-yl-1H-benzimidazole has optical properties that make it an ideal candidate for use in organic electronics devices such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs).
