It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro through receptor binding and inhibition of protein synthesis, leading to cell death. Ganoderiol F also inhibits the complement system, which is an important component of the immune system. The anticomplement activity exhibited by this compound may be due to its ability to inhibit enzyme activities involved in the formation of the C3 convertase. Ganoderiol F has been shown to have short-term exposure effects on human cells in culture. In particular, it has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on K562 leukemia cells and induce apoptosis in RAW 264.7 macrophages following stimulation with lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
