CAS:Tos-Arg-OH is a proteolytic enzyme that has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the release of histamine from human basophils. Tos-Arg-OH also inhibits the activity of neutrophils and macrophages. It is not active against erythrocytes or platelets and does not show any significant inhibitory effect on the production of fibrinogen, a protein involved in blood clotting. Tos-Arg-OH has been shown to be more potent than trypsin in vivo, but less potent than papain.
