CAS:Controlled ProductApplications N-Cbz-L-tyrosine is an N-Cbz-protected form of L-Tyrosine (T899975). L-Tyrosine is an essential amino acid that exhibits in vitro antioxidant and antiradical activities. L-Tyrosine is used as a precursor to synthesize catecholamines (e.g. Norepinephrine HCl [N674500]) in human keratinocytes, and also for the synthesis of proteins and thyroid hormones. CAS:N-Cbz-L-tyrosine is a covalently modified amino acid that has been shown to be an effective protease inhibitor. The compound binds to the active site of enzymes, blocking their ability to hydrolyze proteins. In addition, N-Cbz-L-tyrosine has been shown to inhibit aminopeptidases and carboxypeptidases with IC50 values of 0.5 mM and 1 mM, respectively. This protein stabilizer has been shown to have a solubility data of 0.4 g/100 mL in water and 0.3 g/100 mL in methanol. It also has a molecular weight of 184.2 g/mol and a pH optimum of 7.0 (±0.2). N-Cbz-L-Tyrosine is soluble in water or methanol with a molecular weight of 184g/mol and a pH optimum at 7+.
