    Isocaryophyllene is a natural compound found in plants and has insecticidal properties. It has been shown to have inhibitory effects on the enzyme dextran sulfate, which is involved in the production of lysosomal enzymes. Isocaryophyllene inhibits the production of picolinic acid, a biochemical that is involved in the inflammatory response. Isocaryophyllene also has antiinflammatory activity due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. There are no known physiological effects from this compound. Isocaryophyllene can be extracted using solid phase microextraction (SPME).
