CAS:6-Hydroxy methyl pyridine-2-carboxylic acid (HMPC) is an amide that is synthesized from picolinic acid by the enzyme, carboxylase. HMPC has been shown to be a metabolite of tryptophan and is involved in the formation of polyamines. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease and autoimmune diseases. HMPC can be converted into 6-hydroxymethylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid (6HMP), which is an enantiomer of HMPC. This conversion is catalyzed by H+ ions, such as those found in hydrochloric acid.Formula:C7H7NO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:153.14 g/mol6-(Hydroxymethyl)picolinic acid
