CAS:2-Benzyl-4-chlorophenol is a disinfectant that is used to treat skin cells and react with the surface of the skin. It has been shown to be toxic in laboratory animals at high doses. 2-Benzyl-4-chlorophenol is also used as an analytical reagent for detecting triclosan, which is an antimicrobial agent, and other substances. The reaction mechanism of 2-benzyl-4-chlorophenol is through a process called phenolic chlorination, which involves chlorinating benzene rings by oxidation. This reaction may occur at a faster rate in the presence of sodium hydroxide (NaOH), producing sodium chloride (NaCl) and hydrogen chloride gas (HCl). 2-Benzyl-4-chlorophenol can also be used as a disinfectant for wastewater treatment. It reacts with organic matter in wastewater to form carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). This reaction occurs when theFormula:C13H11ClOPurity:Min. 95.0%Molecular weight:218.68 g/mol2-Benzyl-4-chlorophenol
