2,8-Dimethyldibenzothiophene
CAS:2,8-Dimethyldibenzothiophene is a chemical compound that is used in industry as an intermediate to produce other chemicals. It can be found in the environment as a result of both natural and industrial processes. The main use of 2,8-dimethyldibenzothiophene is for desulfurization of naphthalene, which can be accomplished by reacting it with hydrogen at high temperatures. This process leads to the formation of biphenyl, which is also produced industrially. The analytical methods available to identify 2,8-dimethyldibenzothiophene are gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. 2,8-Dimethyldibenzothiophene reacts with oxygen or nitric acid to form dibenzo-p-dioxin and dibenzo-p-furan respectively. These compounds are toxic and carcinogenic substances that can cause severe environmental pollution if not properly disposed of.Formula:C14H12SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:212.31 g/molRef: 3D-FD62221
