LGD-6972 is a molecule that binds to the drug target of metformin, which is an oral anti-diabetic drug. LGD-6972 has shown that it can reduce hyperglycemia and insulin resistance in rats, as well as decrease blood pressure in mice. LGD-6972 has also been shown to be safe in a clinical study with patients with type 2 diabetes. This compound will be used as an oral treatment for type 2 diabetes and is currently undergoing phase 1 clinical trials.
