6-Chloroimidazo[1,2-b]pyridazine-3-carboxylic acid is an antibacterial agent that is used in ionic liquids and ionic microspheres. It is a member of the group of chitosan derivatives. 6-Chloroimidazo[1,2-b]pyridazine-3-carboxylic acid has been shown to be active against gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 6CIPA binds covalently to sulfonate groups on the bacterial cell wall and inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins. This leads to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
