CAS:2-Chloro-4-nitroaniline is a synthetic chemical that is used as a corrosion inhibitor in wastewater treatment. It reacts with amines to form a stable nitro group, which has been shown to inhibit the corrosion of metal surfaces. 2-Chloro-4-nitroaniline can be prepared by reacting aniline and nitric acid at high temperature. This compound is also reactive and can be used as an analytical reagent for determination of fatty acids in water samples. 2-Chloro-4-nitroaniline has been shown to inhibit the growth of carcinoma cell lines, although it does not affect normal cell lines.
