CAS:2-(Phenoxymethyl)oxirane is a phenyl ether that has been used as an analytical reagent. It can react with p-hydroxybenzoic acid to produce picolinic acid. This reaction is catalyzed by glycidyl, which has been shown to be reactive in the presence of human serum. 2-(Phenoxymethyl)oxirane also has conformational properties, and its reactions are determined by the intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the phenoxy group and the ether oxygen atoms.
