Skepinone-L

Skepinone-L is a cytosolic calcium ionophore that activates the MAPK signal pathway and has antimicrobial effects. It has been shown to reduce the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human macrophages, which may be due to its ability to inhibit toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Skepinone-L has also been shown to have anti-diabetic properties in diabetic patients. Skepinone-L is metabolized by esterases and hydrolysis, leading to inactive metabolites such as 3-hydroxypentanoic acid. The metabolic pathways of Skepinone-L are similar to those of other chemical agents that are used for treatment of bacterial infections.
