CAS:2-(Methyl-2-pyridylamino)ethanol (2MPE) is a small molecule that has been studied for its potential use as an inhibitor of the enzyme protein kinase C-alpha. The reaction mechanism of 2MPE with rosiglitazone, a drug used to treat type II diabetes mellitus, has been shown to be nucleophilic and proceeds through an addition-elimination mechanism. The kinetic parameters for this reaction have been determined by studying the effect of temperature on the reaction rate. Density measurements indicate that 2MPE is a low-molecular weight compound with a density of 1.08 g/mL at 25°C and 1 atm pressure.
