CAS:Applications 2,5-Dimethylpyrazine is used as a reagent in the synthesis of bone-targeted proteasome inhibitors for multiple myeloma (MM). 2,5-Dimethylpyrazine is also used in the preparation of 3-Methyl-2,5-bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)pyrazine (M295340); a degredation product of Clavulanic Acid (C563750) which is a β-lactamase inhibitor, typically added to amoxicillin to increase its effectiveness. CAS:2,5-Dimethyl pyrazine is a hydrocarbon that is synthesized from ethyl decanoate. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in mice and rats by inhibiting the production of prostaglandin and leukotrienes. 2,5-Dimethyl pyrazine appears to be an inhibitor of bacterial growth as well and may also have potential as an antibiotic. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of wild-type strains but not mutant strains of E. coli. The FTIR spectra show that 2,5-dimethylpyrazine interacts with the aromatic ring of phenol through a coordination geometry involving two nitrogen atoms on the pyrazine molecule (N) and one oxygen atom on the phenol molecule (O). The presence of these two nitrogen atoms results in a large increase in the acidity of 2,5-dimethylpyrazine's protonated form compared to other types of molecules that only interact withFormula:C6H8N2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:108.14 g/molRef: 3D-FD63384
