    Cytidine-5'-triphosphate is a nucleotide that is involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids. It is synthesized by the enzyme cytidine triphosphate synthetase and converted to cytidine diphosphate (CDP) by the enzyme CTP synthetase. The nitrogen atoms are derived from ammonia. Cytidine-5'-triphosphate is found in mitochondria, where it participates in lipid synthesis. Cytidine-5'-triphosphate may also be used to treat cancer. This drug has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis, as well as induce apoptosis in cancer cells.
