2,2'-Biquinoline-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid
CAS:2,2'-Biquinoline-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that has been shown to have potent antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It interacts with the protein in the cell membrane and blocks iron uptake by the bacteria, which causes oxidative stress and leads to cell death. The compound also inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the enzyme polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This binding prevents DNA replication and transcription. 2,2'-Biquinoline-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid has been shown to have antiviral properties in vitro.
