It can be used for the treatment of bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. OJV-VI also has an effect on mitochondrial membrane potential, which may lead to apoptosis. OJV-VI has been shown to activate toll-like receptor 4, leading to increased expression of inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-6). This drug also inhibits glucose uptake in cells by inhibiting catecholamine release and the translocation of GLUT4 vesicles to the cell surface.
