1-(4-Aminophenyl)-5,6-dihydro-3-(4-morpholinyl)-2(1H)-pyridinone (1) is a component of the drug ampicillin. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder that has an empirical formula of C11H14N2O and a molecular weight of 221.25. 1 is an impurity in ampicillin synthesis and can be detected by x-ray powder diffraction analysis. It has been indexed as 2,5-(C=O)N-[C(NH2)2]2 and 3,5-(C=O)N-[C(NH2)2]2 on the basis of its XRD patterns.

Applications 1-​(4-​Aminophenyl)​-​5,​6-​dihydro-​3-​(4-​morpholinyl)​-​2(1H)​-​pyridinone is an intermediate in the synthesis of Apixaban (A726700), A potent, direct, selective, and orally active inhibitor of coagulation factor Xa.
