Color and Shape:MixtureBis(2,3,3,3-Tetrachloropropyl) ether
CAS:Bis(2,3,3,3-Tetrachloropropyl) ether (BTPE) is a chlorinated hydrocarbon that has been used as an antimicrobial agent in the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections. BTPE has been shown to inhibit growth of bacteria at low concentrations and to be effective against strains resistant to other antibiotics. BTPE is also used in analytical chemistry as a solvent for organic compounds and can be used to extract terminal residues from surfaces. This chemical has long-term efficacy because it does not break down easily. As a result, it is more effective against bacteria that form biofilms on surfaces. It may have adverse effects on neuronal function by inhibiting mitochondrial membrane potential or by interfering with axonal transport. BTPE is also a component of polymers and plastics such as Teflon, Saran wrap, and Scotchgard. The body can metabolize this chemical through hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidFormula:C6H6Cl8OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:377.73 g/molS 421 10 µg/mL in Cyclohexane
