CAS:Tris(cyclopentadienyl)lanthanum is a rare-earth metal compound with the chemical formula LaCl3. It is prepared by refluxing lanthanum chloride with cyclopentadiene in toluene. Tris(cyclopentadienyl)lanthanum has three polymorphs, α, β and γ, of which the β form is more stable than the other two forms. The compound can be used as a precursor for other organohalogen compounds such as chloroalkenes, which are used in organic synthesis.
