6,6,16-Trifluorohexadecanoic Acid
CAS:6,6,16-Trifluorohexadecanoic Acid is a fluorinated fatty acid that is synthesized by the metabolic incorporation of trifluoromethyl groups into natural fatty acids. Fluorine atoms are added to the 6th and 16th carbons of the carbon chain. This synthetic compound has been used in labeling experiments with radioactive fluorine-18 (F-18) to identify the uptake and metabolism of this radionuclide in various tissues, including myocardium. It is also used as a precursor for synthesis of fluoropalmitic acid, which has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of fatty acid synthase.Formula:C16H29F3O2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:310.4 g/mol
