It has a molecular weight of 113.13 g/mol. 5-Trifluoromethylpyrrolidin-2-one is a chiral molecule that occurs as two enantiomers, (5S)-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one and (5R)-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one. The former is more active than the latter. 5FP reacts with sulfur to give the corresponding sulfide, trifluoroethylsulfide.
