2-HBA

2-HBA is a mesoporous material, a 2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, which has an acidic pH. It also has the ability to absorb UV light. Ginkgetin, a component of ginkgo biloba leaves, can be used to increase the uptake of 2-HBA. Tyrosinase activity is inhibited by 2-HBA, which may be due to its hypervalent nature and peroxide formation. The strain of bacteria in this product was shown to have an apoptotic effect on melanocytes. This product also inhibits tyrosinase activity.

2-HBA, a synthetic analog of curcumin, is an indirect inducer of enzymes that catalyze detoxification reactions through the Keap1-Nrf2-ARE pathway.
