CAS:Zinc telluride is a semiconductor material used in optoelectronics. It is used in blue LEDs, laser diodes, solar cells, components of microwave generators, electro-optic detector, holographic interferometry and laser optical phase conjugation devices. It is associated with lithium niobate and used for the generation of pulsed terahertz radiation in time-domain terahertz spectroscopy and terahertz imaging. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.Formula:ZnTePurity:99.998%Molecular weight:192.97Zinc telluride, 99.99% (metals basis)
CAS:Zinc telluride can be easily doped, and for this reason it is one of the more common semiconducting materials used in optoelectronics. ZnTe is important for development of various semiconductor devices, including blue LEDs, laser diodes, solar cells, and components of microwave generators. It can be used for solar cells, for example, as a back-surface field layer and p-type semiconductor material for a CdTe/ZnTe structure[6] or in PIN diode structures. The material can also be used as a component of ternary semiconductor compounds.Zinc telluride together with lithium niobate is often used for generation of pulsed terahertz radiation in time-domain terahertz spectroscopy and terahertz imaging. CAS:Zinc telluride (ZnTe) is a semiconductor material that has been used in heterojunction photovoltaic devices. It is an absorber that can be grown on a substrate of magnesium oxide and it has shown good optical properties. ZnTe can be grown by thermal co-evaporation with methanol as the solvent. The crystalline structure of ZnTe is hexagonal wurtzite, which has a lattice constant of 0.41 nm. The thermal expansion coefficient for ZnTe is 3.2 × 10−6 K−1, which is much higher than silicon or germanium. ZnTe also shows low energy radiation resistance, making it suitable for use in space applications such as satellites and spacecrafts. Zinc telluride has been studied for its photocatalytic activity and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
